What garden style is right for you?

I have noticed that there has been a lot of interest in my recent post What’s Your Style. I was looking around the internet and cam across a website that has wonderful descriptions of several garden styles and thought that it was worth sharing. Here are some samples:

Formal Style:
Formal landscape design heavily depends on straight lines and geometrical shapes. The plantings are orderly and pruned neatly pruned to maintain their formal effect. The Georgian garden would reflect this style and would easily fall under this category.

Informal Style:
Informal landscape design is the exact opposite of the formal style. A more relaxed feel is achieved by using curved lines and irregular shapes. The plantings are massed in a more informal manner creating a naturalistic appearance.

They also have absolutely amazing (and longer) descriptions for the following garden styles:
– Tuscan Style
– Italian Style
– Mediterranean Style
– English Garden Style
– Tropical Style
– Asian Style
– Contemporary Style
– Desert Style
– Xeriscape Style

Some of these are complete with several photos and even videos of samples of what that style of garden looks like. They show you what kinds of tiles, bricks, rocks, accessories and plants go with that style. Absolutely wonderful, very thorough and quite interesting. I highly recommend checking it out!
